🚀 Proposal: Native Support for Audit Trail, GDPR Kit, and SSO/SAML in Laravel

Dear Laravel Team & Taylor Otwell,

Laravel is now one of the most starred frameworks in the world and is widely used in both startups and large-scale applications. However, it still lacks first-party enterprise-level features that prevent wider adoption in MNCs and regulated sectors.

🔴 Current Limitation:

• Audit logging, GDPR compliance (Right to Erasure, Export, Consent), and SSO/SAML integrations are not native
• Third-party packages are available but lack long-term trust or official security audit
• Big startups (like Zerodha, Razorpay) use Laravel internally but don’t openly promote it due to “compliance” challenges

✅ Proposed Features

1. Native Audit Trail Support

   • Automatic model-level logging (create/update/delete)
   • API access logs
   • Admin logs

2. GDPR Starter Kit

   • User data export endpoint
   • Erasure request handler
   • Consent logging (via middleware)
   • Extend Jetstream/Breeze for "Privacy Dashboard"

3. SSO & SAML Integration

   • Easily hook into Active Directory, Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace
   • Starter package via Jetstream/Sanctum

• It removes the final friction from enterprise adoption
• Laravel becomes a serious contender against Spring Boot, .NET, NodeJS for regulated industries
• It unlocks public recognition from unicorn startups already using Laravel but not vocal about it

Hi. As you know laravel team discourages the usage of lumen and instead they promote laravel for APIs. If they include all that you ask in laravel, would that be useless overhead for APIs?

Great question!

Actually, this proposal doesn't suggest that these features be always loaded or forced into every Laravel app. Just like Jetstream, Horizon, or Telescope — they can be opt-in starter kits or first-party packages.

APIs won’t be affected unless a developer chooses to include these enterprise features. Laravel can still remain lightweight and expressive for APIs.

The idea is: Laravel should offer these tools officially (as optional packages), especially for teams working in finance, healthcare, or regulated sectors. That way, enterprise teams don’t have to reinvent the wheel or depend on unmaintained third-party solutions.

In 2024 we proposed our laravel crud wizard lib suite to Laravel as an official api crud out of the box auto-filter that would replace the Laravel Resource api, but we were ignored. We started it in sept 2021. So, if you are lucky maybe you will win the lottery. If not... then bad luck.
