Does you have some tips how to calculate the energy consumption of the emulated nodes?

Hello Lucas, sorry for taking so long to reply. You may have already accomplished this goal in another way. But after two years, we are finally resuming the Fogbed development this month, and this is a very interesting feature for us to implement. I’ll look for an undergraduate thesis student to work on it.

I think that, to be precise on this point, energy consumption in IoT is closely related to battery behavior. So, one idea would be to model the charge behavior of different battery types — and today, there’s plenty of data available on that. This would include defining parameters such as battery type (Li-Ion, Li-Po, LiFePO4, NiMH, etc.), capacity (in mWh, considering IoT devices), and other characteristics. Then, we could implement a Python class (or an energy model in Fogbed) that manages the container and the time it would remain active.

These are basically my initial ideas for how to implement this functionality.
