On an iPhone 5S with an M7, the CMMotionActivity APIs were unusably inaccurate — they were basically good for determining whether a user was moving or stationary, but nothing more fine-grained than that.
Maybe the M8 chip on the 6 / 6 Plus is better. Worth exploring.
