Summary

TUXEDO OS is a Linux distribution developed by TUXEDO Computers, a German manufacturer of Linux laptops and desktops. It is based on Ubuntu/Kubuntu LTS with the KDE Plasma desktop and is optimized for TUXEDO hardware, including pre-installed hardware drivers and TUXEDO-specific tools. It is also available for use on non-TUXEDO hardware.

Distrowatch rank: 26 (as of 2026-04-21)

Lifecycle Data Source

TUXEDO OS is based on Ubuntu LTS and inherits Ubuntu LTS support windows. The distribution does not publish a separate EOL schedule independent of Ubuntu LTS.

Official sources:

Machine-readable data:

No endoflife.date entry exists for TUXEDO OS as of 2026-04-21. No official machine-readable EOL data is published.

EOL dates can be inferred from the Ubuntu LTS base:

  • TUXEDO OS 4 (Ubuntu 24.04 base): EOL ~April 2029
  • TUXEDO OS 3 (Ubuntu 22.04 base): EOL ~April 2027

Notes

  • TUXEDO OS is primarily designed for use on TUXEDO Computers hardware, though it works on other systems.
  • The distribution closely tracks Ubuntu LTS, meaning lifecycle is effectively the same as Ubuntu LTS.
  • TUXEDO publishes updates and kernel patches tailored for their hardware, but the support timeline follows Ubuntu LTS.
  • An endoflife.date entry could be proposed upstream.
