PET VKBD

Hi,

I had an interest in trying the PET 8032, which probably had the first 80-column version of Visicalc ever, in 1980 before the Apple ii 80-column cards were supported by VisiCalc...

It works fine, but I noticed the VKBD is the same as the C64, whereas the PET has some unique keys, such as OFF/RVS and REPEAT.

I just wonder how these keys are mapped: CTRL? F1, F2 ? and whether a dedicated VKDB could see the light of the day, like for the C128?

Designing specific virtual keyboards for those needs do not sound at all worth the effort..

How can one set machine_keyboard_type for xpet via configuration? In vicerc, I've tried setting KeymapIndex, KeyboardType and KeyboardIndex to 0, none of which seem to have any effect. (In my case, I'm just trying to get PET 2001/4032 numeric keys on the main keyboard to enter numbers =)

I've even tried using KeymapUserPosFile to fake using a symbolic keymap, which also appears to have no effect. (I only know vicerc itself is doing something because if I set the EditorName to something ridiculous, it immediately crashes out the core.

PET model is enforcing the keymap type, and the link above shows what the keys are. But since there is no core option currently for it, vicerc should still be able to override it. In any case the numeric keys are in numpad at the moment.

Now I understand. I don't think I was fully resetting when changing to "B" models. Yes, the ability to override would be nice, but this at least makes logical sense. :) Thank you!
