The manual states

Note: For now, the character genders are stored locally, so if you send the script to another person, they have to set them again to see the same statistics.

but if I set a character's gender, save the document, and open it in another text editor, at the bottom I see something like

Manual is very outdated. I'm glad to take in pull requests to update it. I'm moving to an online knowledge database, which is not public yet, and is still heavily work in progress.
