The latest beta release of ITerm2 (3.6.7beta2) support Terminal Graphics Protocol with unicode placeholders as can be seen using kitten icat. I have tried textual image with TGP and noticed some issues:
- Running
python -m textual_image -m tgp, only the last image is showing: 
When I double click on other images I can make them appear, but only one image shows.
- When running the same over ssh no images are showing (
kitten icat works over ssh).
