Is it possible to create a window with a system native web view area? This could be a super-fast and small Electron replacement.

Well, why don't you try it? :)

Then again, a native web view will not get you one of the main benefits of Electron which is making desktop apps using a single stable and portable web platform that you deploy. You'd still get IE on Windows, Safari on OSX and probably Firefox on Linux which is probably the worst possible combination for 2020.

Also, if what you want is to make desktop apps in JavaScript, where does Lua come into the picture?
