Connection Validation failed: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Hi Lucas! Hope you're doing well :)

We can no longer connect successfully using this tool and are seeing an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error when attempting to validate the connection. We had some issues recently with some other tools (XrmToolbox, Visual Studio, etc.) failing to connect because the older versions were referencing the regional discovery service that was recently shut down. Once we upgraded those tools to the latest versions, the connection issues were resolved, which I'm assuming is because they were updated to use the global discovery service. Could this be related / a similar issue?

We also tried downloading the latest version of this tool but see the same message.

Seconding this if this tool is still supported (I sure hope it is, because it is a life saver)! Used the tool last December and it worked perfect, but receiving the same error message.

Cannot agree more about the tool, thanks again Lucas! I am still using it with on prem without any problems (mostly calling command line, without the UI). What I would really like to see is if this tool can "merge" with https://github.com/bcolpaert/Colso.Xrm.DataTransporter and provide export/import functionality to json so reference data can be versioned. I know it could be a lot of work, but if few of us could help...

Hey everybody - thanks for the kind words and sorry for the delayed response. :(

@cpasinsky / @cjam583 I did make an update to the code late last year to update the Xrm assemblies and to add support for MFA, but I didn't post a new release. If you can try downloading the code and compiling it, that may work for you. If not, I can take a closer look.

@veljko There is capability to import/export JSON specifically to support the use case you mention. Please let me know if I'm missing something.

Sorry for not being clear :( I was saying that I miss JSON export in DataTransporter.
As for ConfigDataMover, only thing I can suggest is to add prettyprint option so JSON is easier to diif; I use jq right now for it. And hiding the credentials in source/target from the output.
