bug: Defaults to float64

Issue resolved (it looks like) but creating issue for record and if more edits are needed.

Unexpected float64 output when using create_shmim with python app. Default for numpy.zeros is numpy.float64.

@joshua-liberman Feel free to add anything else to this. Force of habit for creating an issue even if the issue was resolved for future reference. Can close out if its working which looks like it is.

Per conversations during software meeting today 2025-10-14, probably will want to change this up on how this is fixed as it probably won't work for another case (this is mainly a temp fix that is 'workable' with the hamCtrl app).
