dragging the mouse is very cool and a good way to do stuff. It could make sense to have various modes where dragging the mouse does different things. For example you could have select mode where you press a chord and then select columns with your mouse, then another chord to enter macro mode. Now by dragging your mouse, the macro is only pasted in specific columns. Then you deselect all, and return to select mode and select 3 cells in tjhe StickX column. Next you return to edit mode where dragging your mouse across StickX repeats those 3 cells as you drag your mouse. This is just a small example that shows how useful making the editor modal could be.

I'm separating this out from actually defining what modes I think would be good in case you don't want to do this. If you express interest i'll go and make another feature request outlining modes.
