Online license is not used, when MLM_LICENSE_FILE is set

Summary

I couldn't use my individual license even I used Online License Manager to log on to MathWorks account.
When execute matlab ver and license commands I see that matlab-proxy still use wrong network license and Simulink Test that should work is not available.

During troubleshooting I spot that MLM_LICENSE_FILE is pointing to license server port@hostname.
It looks like I can't use individual license once I used network one before.

Can you help and investigate ??

Thank you for reaching out and bringing this issue to our attention.

The behavior you are experiencing occurs because MATLAB gives priority to the MLM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable over other licensing mechanisms when it is set.

To ensure we are aligned, could you please confirm if the following steps accurately describe your reproduction process?

1. Start the matlab-proxy-app with the MLM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable set.

2. Once MATLAB has launched, click on the Remove License Server Address option in the matlab-proxy status information dialog box.

   

3. Wait for MATLAB to shut down and then log in using your Online Licensing credentials.

4. Upon restarting MATLAB, it continues to use the license specified by MLM_LICENSE_FILE.

While we are working on a fix for this issue, you can use the following workaround: start the matlab-proxy-app after unsetting the MLM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable, as shown below:

env MLM_LICENSE_FILE= matlab-proxy-app
