No metadata being saved to grid images. Wondering if bug or intentional change

I don't know if this is a bug or if by design, but metadata is no longer being saved to grid images when using the Grid Generator, even with 'Publish Generation Metadata' ticked. It used to be saved, just as it is with individual images.

I don't know when it stopped doing this but I have some grids from August last year that all have the full metadata, but a grid generated on the 15th of this month doesn't, other than:

Is this intentional? Trouble is, I tend not to save the individual images generated for the grid since the metadata was included in the grid image aswell, but now for the more recent grids that isn't happening and I can't recall what paramaters I used.

can't replicate, generated grid on both "Just Images" and "Web Page" mode, parameters are saved correctly for all images, including swarm history view and web page view.

I'm using 'Grid Image' for the output type. I've attached a basic grid image and one of the idividual images from the grid. If you check the metadata you'll see that the grid image has no metadata other than what I posted above, but the individual image does. Older grid images have all metadata in them like the individual images. So this is something that changed recently. I have Publish Generation Metadata ticked (it's set by default any way).

Ah, "Grid Image" type, the grid image itself is missing metadata, I see now

Yeah, sorry, I should have been more specific initially that I was using Grid Image as the output type.
