Feature Description

I’d like to request support for customizing the visual appearance of the query results grid in the extension for Visual Studio Code.

Proposed Capabilities

  • Ability to customize basic styling options, including:
    • Font size and font family
    • Text color and background color for table cells
    • Cell padding and row height
  • Customizable table header appearance, including:
    • Header text color
    • Header background color
  • Customization of grid lines, including:
    • Grid line color
  • Theme-aware styling that automatically adapts to the active VS Code theme.

Problem & Motivation

Currently, the results grid has a fixed visual appearance with no user-configurable styling options. When working with large result sets especially during long sessions or on high-resolution displays this can lead to eye strain and reduced readability.

Additionally, the inability to align the results grid with editor themes or accessibility preferences (such as larger fonts or higher contrast) limits usability for some workflows and users.

Use Case

As a developer or data analyst who frequently works with large query results, having control over the grid’s visual presentation would:

  • Improve readability and data scanning
  • Reduce eye strain during extended work sessions
  • Allow better alignment with personal, team-wide, or accessibility-related preferences

Request

Please consider adding support for configurable styling options for the query results grid in a future release.

Thank you for considering this request.
