[Feature Request] Extract Postgres MCP as a separate tool from this extension

Hello. I have noticed that the Postgres MCP is somehow built in to this extension. It is managed by the extension and not it is not documented how to configure it in .vscode/mcp.json (or ~/.copilot/mcp-config.json).

I would like to make Custom Agents with this MCP added as a tool to them, which is not possible as Copilot will not find this tool as it is missing from MCP configuration file.

Either the Postgres MCP should be decoupled from this extension and added to MCP Marketplace, or it should be documented how to add it manually and make it available to Custom Agents.

There is no MCP tool in the current version @sajalverma17, they are language model tools: https://code.visualstudio.com/api/extension-guides/ai/tools

@sajalverma17 -- additionally, our next release will actually migrate many of the current LMTs to MCP-based tools, which should make them available for your use case. We'll update this thread when that is released so you can provide any feedback. Thanks for your interest!

Hi @sajalverma17 - we've released an MCP server in the current pre-release, v1.17.0 -- and will be available in the stable release v1.18.0 due this week. Please check it out and let us know if it's resolved your issue.
