PAPI Make Fails #5

Hello Author(s),
When I tried to run Make in Papi/src folder, it returns the following errors:
_collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
Makefile:43: recipe for target 'papi_avail' failed
make[1]: *** [papi_avail] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/nik/Downloads/SCAM/quickhpc/papi-5.5.1/src/utils'
Makefile.inc:236: recipe for target 'utils' failed
make: *** [utils] Error 2
