Can't find Java runtime even though JPype installed

Running on OS X 10.10 Yosemite. JAVA_HOME is set:
$ echo $JAVA_HOME
/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_25.jdk/Contents/Home

JPype install completed:
...
Installed /usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/JPype1-0.5.7-py2.7-macosx-10.10-x86_64.egg
Processing dependencies for JPype1==0.5.7
Finished processing dependencies for JPype1==0.5.7

When importing boiler pipe-extract, got:

from boilerpipe.extract import Extractor
No Java runtime present, requesting install.

Any idea why this happened?
