the mathematical algorithm?

First thanks very much for making it open sourced and thanks very much for the great work! I am an assisstant researcher from Chinese Academy of Sciences doing urban ecology. So your work is very interesting to me. 

I want to ask if there is some material that i can learn the method to calculated GVI? It is very difficult to infer the algorithm from the code!
