Link Shortening

Sometimes, web links can be super long and hard to share. That's where Link Sanitizer's link shortening feature comes in!

What is Link Shortening?

Link shortening is like giving a long name a nickname. Instead of a long web address, you get a short one that takes you to the same place.

How Link Sanitizer Shortens Links

Link Sanitizer uses a service called TinyURL to shorten links. When you click the "Shorten" button, it sends your cleaned link to TinyURL, and TinyURL gives back a shorter version.

Why Shorten Links?

  • Easier to Share: Short links are easier to copy, paste, and send to friends.
  • Looks Cleaner: Short links look nicer and take up less space.
  • Good for Social Media: Some social media sites have limits on how long links can be.

How to Shorten a Link

  1. Clean the link: First, paste your long link into Link Sanitizer and let it clean it up.
  2. Click "Shorten": Click the "Shorten" button.
  3. See the short link: The short link will appear in the "Shortened Link" box.
  4. Copy the short link: Click the "Copy" button next to the short link.

Example

Let's say you have this long link:

https://www.example.com/a/very/long/page/address/that/is/hard/to/share

After clicking "Shorten", you might get something like this:

Important Note

Link Sanitizer uses TinyURL for shortening. If TinyURL is having problems, the shortening might not work.
