can you support the sparse matrix for the output

concat.split return dense matrix, but sometimes needs sparse maxtrix

@klyan , I'm not sure that I would be able to integrate that feature without adding dependencies on other packages, which I'd prefer not to do unless necessary. If you've got any ideas for a pull request, please pass them on. Thanks!
