Add to an existing CHANGELOG

As a user with a repo that does not yet follow a structured commit message standard, I would like the ability to add new entries to to an existing CHANGELOG without rewriting the whole thing, so that I can switch over to using conventional to generate my CHANGELOG without losing my hand-generated CHANGELOG entries.
