Many iframe based video players use the iframe postmessage library https://github.com/embedly/player.js

This custom video element would forward the htmlmediaelement API to the player.js API and with that automatically support a few video platforms out there.

To name a few:

• Streamable (used to at least)
• Bunny CDN (https://docs.bunny.net/docs/playback-control-api)
• Gumlet (Support for Gumlet's player cookpete/react-player#1875)
