doesn't work consistently with inputs in $modal

Using ui.bootstrap.modal I'm not able to get this to consistently work on inputs inside the modal.

By not consistent, do you mean that it randomly works and doesn't work for a given modal or is it on a modal-by-modal basis? If it's random behaviour on the same modal, we could be looking at a timing issue. If it's consistently not working for a particular modal, it could be directive compilation order issue.

Random behaviour on the same modal. Any ideas how to fix besides uping the $timeout value?

Any ideas? Could the directive somehow get triggered when the opened promise is resolved? I've looked through https://stackoverflow.com/questions/14833326/how-to-set-focus-on-input-field/23919918 and I'm not seeing any wonderful solutions and I would prefer not to resort to http://stackoverflow.com/a/28835677/1233435. Currently a timeout of 500 is working but would be nice to avoid.
