Caching unsuccessful SmartLayerTileService requests

If I am not mistaken, mapget caches all responses of SmartLayerTileService requests. This includes erroneous responses such as “not found.” If the requested tile becomes available later, the request is not repeated unless mapget is restarted.

Is it possible to change this behavior so that mapget only caches successful requests?

Hint: The underlying smart-client already supports a method to flush the internal cache, where actually the "not found" tiles are stored. That would need to be used and exposed to the mapget user to be able to flush the smart-client cache.
