Login hangs on Chrome (Android)

In case I try to login with the Chrome browser on Android the U2F function does not seem to work (neither USB or NFC).
After I enter my username and password I see the U2F site but there is no OS overlay from the authenticator (CTAP I assume).
So basically I am stuck here and cannot continue with the login.

The same YubiKey works fine on that client/browser using the Yubico test website here. Although wait... I think this is WebAuthn with FIDO2/CTAP2.

I also have no problems to login into the Nextcloud Android App V3.17.1 with my second factor.

Any help is appreciated.

Just checked with the twofactor_webauthn app and that one works on Chrome Android.
