Weird looking pushbuttons when trying to modify Aero Lite theme #180

Description

@tomasz1986

Windows Version: Windows 10 21H2, Windows 11 24H2

Expected behavior

Pushbuttons should look the same as in the default Aero Lite theme.

Actual behavior

Pushbuttons look very weird. This happens as soon as loading the default Aero Lite theme into the application, even without any actual modifications.

What I have done so far:

  • tested a variety of different versions of msstyleEditor from v1.5 to the current v2.1.1.0.
  • tested in both Windows 10 and 11
  • tested with both SecureUxTheme and UXThemePatcher
  • used both "test mode" and also installed the theme in the OS
  • tried renaming the theme files, etc.

Basically nothing helps, so I believe this may be a bug in the application itself.

To reproduce:

  1. Open the default Aero Lite theme in msstyleEditor.
  2. Click the test button to apply the theme to the OS.
  3. Perform an action that shows a pop-up with "Yes/No" buttons.
