Please follow the XDG Base Dir Spec

Please don't make the default config location pollute the home directory. It's much nicer to follow the spec, and fallback to putting config files in ~/.config. I hope the added complexity isn't too much to ask for, I have so many environment variables for so many applications that don't follow the spec and I wish the defaults would follow the spec.
