Docker / Podman wrapper

I'm working with a group of people who are resurrecting an FPS-100 array processor connected to a PDP-11. I'm in the process of building a container image with OpenSIMH on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS to get the FPS toolchain, which is written in PDP-11 Fortran IV, up and running.

I just started this up over the weekend https://github.com/AlgoCompSynth/FPS-100-Resurrection.git. But it looks like, except for the container wrapper and the FPS tooling, pidp11 has already done the things I had as my next step - getting an OpenSIMH PDP-11 with RSX-11M or RT-11 running that I can use to host the FPS tools.

So instead of doing all that, it looks like I can just clone this repository into the container and load the FPS tools in it. Two questions:

1. What is the license for pidp11? I didn't see a LICENSE file in the repository.
2. Do you want the container wrapper tooling as part of the PiDP 11 project?

P.S.: If the licensing works out, there is a bit-accurate FPS-100 simulator in this tool chain, though not in simh format. It's a PDP-11 Fortran IV program, as are all the other parts of the tool chain that run in the PDP-11.

You'd probably be better sticking with Open SIMH rather than the version of SIMH that is bundled with the PiDP-11 front panel support here, unless you're actually running it on a PiDP-11. This version is many commits behind Open SIMH and is held back by the rather intrusive changes to the SIMH PDP-11 emulator to add front panel support, which were declined by upstream.

You can download Johnny Billquist's enhanced RSX-11M+ with TCP/IP support and many other enhancements and it should run fine under the latest Open SIMH.

I've found a number of things that don't work properly in the version of SIMH included here. Most of them are unsupported configuration options or combinations of options that don't work. There are workarounds for them, but why subject yourself to the hassle when they're fixed in Open SIMH?
