Indicators are going backwards when turning Address and Data rotary switches

Encountered this issue when using the code available here on a PiDP-11 using a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running the 64bit version of Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm.

There was a discussion about this in the google group some years ago, and a patch was posted there to fix this issue:

But unfortunately it looks like the patch isn't included in the version of the source that is provided in this repo.

Would it be possible to add the patch from the google group to avoid that people have to apply it themselves?

It appears the gpio code has changed very significantly since that patch was created and will have to be entirely refactored. It's not even possible to hand-patch as far as I can see.

I will add the fix in the next update - apologies, it will be a few weeks yet. But it's not more than an annoyance hopefully, this reverse rotation. Will be done!

There were apparently two different batches of rotary encoders, with one type rotating clockwise and the other rotating counterclockwise. So there's no "right" or "wrong" code. Fortunately, no one has reported having one encoder of each type in their kit.

I currently have a fix pending in my Terri-Kennedy/pidp11 fork which requires the user to recompile the emulator. I'm holding off on publishing that fix because I want users to be able to change the rotation direction without needing to recompile the emulator.

My fork now supports an /opt/pidp11/pidp11-useroptions.rc file. It's a bash shell script that gets run each time the emulator is started. The code now supports knob direction configuration from that file, as well as controlling the initial states of the ADDR and DATA rotary knobs. I'm attaching the .rc file (renamed to .txt so GitHub will accept it as an attachment) for people to browse. Remember, this feature is currently only in my fork.
