Enable this repo can be a central repo to host demos, notebooks etc.

Phase1 tasks:

I have created a PR to fix simple chat at #216, I will create follow up PRs once #216 got merged.

@raghotham thanks for the discussion in today's call, so as a follow up, I want to first enable the current demo apps can work first, and then we can check how to better organize the layout of all of the demo apps.

Can you help review #216 first? Thanks!
