Update and release CCF 1.0.0 Specification (onflow/ccf).

Scope

This is mostly to replace some remaining placeholder text (e.g. in "Why CBOR") and to release tag CCF Specs 1.0.0 because the work to sync onflow/ccf (CCF specs) with onflow/cadence (CCF codec) was essentially done in CCF Specs PR 7.

• Check settings for onflow/ccf
• Replace placeholder text
• Merge Update to CCF Specification 1.0 ccf#7 to add new Cadence types and other updates.
• Release tag 1.0.0

Status

• Released CCF Specification 1.0.0 on March 30, 2025 (release notes).
• Updated README for CCF.

Note

CCF specs was written to handle changing priorities for trade-offs (e.g. security vs speed), so the specs explicitly specify how to do deterministic encoding and makes that an opt-in requirement for CCF-based protocols.

This allows trade-offs between speed and security, etc. without modifying CCF specs.

This is closed by onflow/ccf#7 and a few followup commits to update the README to match the updated CCF specs.

Status

CCF 1.0.0 (March 31, 2025) was released with support for new data types added in Cadence 1.0.

CCF 1.0.0 specification supports two modes of encoding Cadence data:

• fully self-describing mode (includes type definitions in the same CCF data item)
• partially self-describing mode (can omit type definitions from CCF data item)

A CCF codec implementing the "fully self-describing mode" of CCF is at:

The "partially self-describing mode" has not yet been implemented by any CCF codec.
