i forked makedeb, it self a fork of makepkg from Arch. makedeb hasn't been touched for 2 years, the mpr is in abandon, it has a bunch of bugs and he plans in eventually rewriting it in rust.
https://github.com/exponentialmatrix/easydeb.
It is a deb package builder, aiming to be easy to use but not limited. It follows the kiss (keep it simple stupid) and unix principle.
I'm proposing, making this the official deb packaging tool of mxlinux. The goal, is making a deb clone of the AUR (isn't any one jealous of the AUR?). This would lower the learning curve for packaging and make packager recruitment easier. And also allow for a staging area for new packages. It would allow any one to build packages and gain experience slowly and later transfer this experience for official packages. Also arch PKGBUILDS can be manually converted for debian and there's also the mpr for makedeb. It also fits in with the other mx utilities.
I just made a bunch of changes and i'm the only one that tested it, expect issues. Most of the code comes from makepkg that is over 10 years old and very mature and also makedeb that is a few years old. It's in bash, so maintenance effort is as low as it can be.
