Right now Dribdat collects source metadata from the APIs of GitHub and other Git-cloud providers. The most interesting being the commit log, which we could also access directly. Perhaps without even having to clone the whole repository, we could collect this data using a library like GitPython. There may be relevant metadata that is provided in a standardized way, or information relevant to our use case that is not part of the API. In any case it might at least be helpful to provide the administrators with a command line that can be used to export and archive the hackathon version of every Git-compatible project. All the way up to full integration with a delightful Git forge.
