Can you control the brightness of the individual pixels?

All demos/animations show a given pixel fully white or dark (off) but is it possible to specify the brightness of the individual pixels?

Yes, the Stars plugin has an example of this:

Take a look at the loop() function of that file. Specifically:

 stars[i].brightness = max(0, stars[i].brightness - 8);
Screen.setPixel(stars[i].x, stars[i].y, 1, stars[i].brightness);

My understanding is you may run into memory constraints depending on your hardware. Some discussion in #49
