Legal risks #17

Description

@awgomespro

I have developed a robust API for logging into the LCR, which feeds a database and a user-friendly application that we use in our ward for various tasks not currently supported by the official LCR website. Several other units are interested in using my application, but I encountered potential legal risks since the Church’s Terms of Use are clear:

https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/legal/terms-of-use?lang=eng&country=go

You also agree not to: (i) use any robot, spider, or other device, process, or automated means to access this site for any purpose, including, without limitation, to monitor or copy any material on this site; (ii) use any manual process to monitor or copy any material on this site, or for any purpose not expressly authorized under this Agreement, without our prior written consent.

While looking for a legal framework to proceed with sharing my application with other units, I came across your article at: https://lcr-session.readthedocs.io/en/stable/license/
and I was wondering if you might be able to help me maintain and share my application with other units without incurring legal risks for violating the Church’s website Terms of Use.
