Almalinux 9 spatch not found

I am attempting to run Piraeus on Almalinux 9 but I am getting the following error:

If I'm being honest, there were even more errors before this about drbd not being able to find my proper kernel directory among some other problems that we have been fightring through. But this one seems to be a pretty critical issue that prevents Piraues from being installed on any Almalinux 9 RHEL host.

See also #220 where there is a comment specifically stating that Almalinux 9 does not support the library that was added to the dockerfile, however the comments seem to have not been addressed, leaving Almalinux 9 users to fend for themselves.

Note also that the directory drbd is looking for in this image appears to be hard coded and does not match the uname -r of my machine. For example,

$ uname -r
5.14.0-503.11.1.el9_5.x86_64

drbd was searching for a build file in this directory lib/modules/5.14.0-503.11.1.el9_5.x86_64/build however, for some reason, the build directory was a symlink that did not exist on my system.

build -> /usr/src/kernels/5.14.0-503.11.1.el9_5.x86_64

But I only had:

$ ls /usr/src/kernels/
5.14.0-611.5.1.el9_7.x86_64

Not sure why. But this resulted in the following error:

My fix for this was just creating a new folder with the expected name and copying all of the files into it which ended up fixing this error.

Note these all happen after a fresh install of Almalinux 9 and a sudo dnf update.

Please make sure to follow the docs on how to install the headers. The reason you have no target for the symlink is that you have installed the kernel-devel packages, which always tracks the latest kernel release.

Since you started an older kernel, it searches for the kernel headers for that version. That is why the docs tell you to first install dnf install -y kernel-devel-$(uname -r).

Additionally, you are using DRBD 9.2.14, which tells me you are not using the latest release.

So please update to the latest Piraeus release, ensure you have kernel-devel-$(uname -r) installed.

Yes, we have tried that as well with no luck unfortunately

And we also updated to use DRBD 9.2.15 yesterday but get the same problem.

Well, it looks like AlmaLinux has already rotated out the repos for 9.5. I believe they only keep the latest two minor releases in the regular repos (9.6 and 9.7 currently).

So you will have to find the matching headers from the "vault" repository. For example

dnf install --repofrompath=almalinux-appstream-vault-9.5,https://vault.almalinux.org/9.5/AppStream/$(uname -m)/os/ kernel-devel-$(uname -r)
