Coilsnake crashing apon openign file directories

Basically when Ever I open the file directories to put in my projects or ROMS coilsnake freezes then crashes and it's just coil snake I've reinstalled Py and 4.2 mutliple times and it still happens with just coilsnake, I'm working with windows 11 which thats all the info I have no error message pop up or nothing the progam and file directory crashes like on start up.

I haven't heard of anyone else running into this. If the whole program crashes as you described, then that means the problem is probably in Python or Tk itself and might be solvable by upgrading the Python version that the CoilSnake exe was made with (or building the CoilSnake 4.2 repo from scratch. But that's a bit more difficult, and the old instructions are a little wrong, and new enough versions of setuptools will just cause the build to fail except in the newest commits of CoilSnake)

A while ago I built a copy of CoilSnake 4.1 (which is a bit older, notably it doesn't support music editing) with a newer version of Python enabled and a console window open to print debugging information to. You can try testing that build here: CoilSnake_4.1_debug.7z. The password for the archive is failed_to_execute. (I understand if downloading a random exe like this seems sketchy and you'd rather not try it. But, if you do try it, it could help with identifying the specific problem, though maybe not solving it.) Try opening a Command Prompt or PowerShell window, dragging and dropping the exe onto the window, and pressing the "Enter" key on your keyboard, and see if the crash still happens when you open a folder. If it does, copy everything that appears in the console window at the moment of the crash, after the "LOADER: Running gui.py" message.

The current plan is to release a new stable version of CoilSnake in April or so, so if you can wait until then for 4.3 or 5.0 or whatever it ends up being called, that should hopefully have any issues in 4.2 fixed.
