Mac multitouch support

I see from the product page that multi touch is not supported on Mac. Is this something that is unlikely to ever be possible due to Mac limitations or just something that has yet to be implemented in the firmware?

I've seen third party trackpads work on mac but that was a while back, think there was a Logitech and then some random Japan only one.

Not sure how they did it though–
