If I select a segment in the timeline the map focuses on the selected segment but if I have overlapping segments I do not see which segment it is. I would propose making the specific segment less transparent or bolder than the others or the others more transparent or dotted, so you can better see what segment is selected. It is also not visible where the segment starts and where it ends. For that pupose I would propose to add a start and a stop icon in the specific location.
