Bombs Away! (1976 remake)

Thank you for creating Javatari. What a brilliant thing.

Was hoping to be able to run Bombs Away! (Drop Zone IV) a remake of the Meadows game in Javatari, but unfortunately it won't run.

It works perfectly in Stella. Not Javatari. I tried all the current ROM type options, but no luck. Black screen was the best I got.

I believe it's a 32K game and uses some bank switching, if that's helpful at all.

Hi! Thank you. Do you know what kind of bankswitching it uses? Is it one of the "traditional" schemes? Maybe you can check what it is in Stella. Also, some games require a special cartridge that has an ARM processor inside, it's basically not an Atari game. If that is the case, Javatari does not support the ARM processor yet. Please send me all the info you can get about the cartridge format / bankswitching scheme. Paulo

Thanks for getting back, Paulo. The game was built in batari Basic using DPC+ bankswitching I'm told by the author (William Pilgrim).

Yes, that is the problem. Javatari supports only DPC, not DPC+ The DPC+ cartridge has an ARM processor. That means the game code is not even real Atari 2600 code. It is a much more advanced CPU without all the limitations of the 2600. That's why some games using it are so impressive. Sorry, but it won't work until we get support implemented, which can take a while.... Paulo
