What scope is necessary to create my personal access token?

GitLab offers multiple scopes to create a personal access token. Which scope is needed to interact to with my gitlab instance thru glab?

(Additional details: this is a self-hosted instance for where I do not have admin privileges for the entire instance. I do have maintainer access for the project in question that I want to administer via glab—should I make a project access token instead?)
