Request for Historical netStakeWeight Data for Academic Research #43

Dear Qtum Team,

I am a researcher at Baylor University, conducting an academic study on blockchain decentralization and platform value creation. Our study examines how decentralization of resource provision — including staking participation — affects blockchain platform outcomes over time.

As part of this work, we are collecting weekly historical data for several proof-of-stake blockchain platforms from 2017 to 2020. For Qtum specifically, we are looking for historical values of the netStakeWeight field — the total QTUM tokens actively staking on the network — on a weekly or per-block basis.

We can see that the current GET /api/info endpoint on qtum.info returns netStakeWeight for the current chain state, and that getmininginfo / getstakinginfo via RPC also expose this value. However, we have not found a way to query these values historically (e.g., for a specific block height or date range).

Our specific request:

  • Weekly (or daily) snapshots of netStakeWeight (in QTUM) from approximately September 2017 to December 2020
  • If a direct data export is not feasible, we would greatly appreciate guidance on whether a historical API endpoint exists, or whether the qtum.info database could provide such a data dump

This data would be used solely for academic research and would be cited appropriately in our publication. We would also be happy to share our findings with the Qtum team.

Thank you very much for your time and for maintaining the qtum.info explorer. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
