on fbsd

i made the fs there, then put that thing, which is sd card, into chinese dashcam. i'm afraid it made up own fs standards? or has bugs. funnily it has been able to read, write & delete everything on it's own

searches come up nothing on this. going into source next i guess. i'm not with fs dev bg, will that error mean that this exfat implementation or perhaps all of them can't use fs anymore? or perhaps there is a hack for this. i hate hacks

i could image the device but then what. apparently i wanted to copy some files off in last minute and found out that now i can't

what's the fix?

in the source, there are several things that fsck can't fix. i can't comment on that

but i have like no idea if this "error" can be fixed somehow. is it just the place where the partition is located? or is it indeed that this device likes to somehow extend fs limits. i can't recall exfat having any of those limits. but i could be wrong. it could also be that it corrupted the fs and has no tools onboard for it

had to image the card and i really hope i could later mount it and copy files off. i rather not want to write it back. there is currently no windows machine too

judging how camera behaves, everything ia ok. it's just that it has piss poor speed open wifi ap and phone app to dl files off

while exfat is again one of "those" fses that's somehow very popular and also is/was closed, it's still totally cursed bug how i can't either fsck it, mount it, or anything, even ro. i was even curious and wanted to remove the check, take a copy of image, and see what blows up

it's an alignment issue? i should have told mkexfatfs that partition is not at the beginning of device? unsure what to think of all this

was able to extract data using sleuthkit. there is missing portion but that might be camera being broken. i needed to use camera so i took dd images of it daily

but i still don't get why this has happened. this is not the first exfat card i have. i also have one i prepared in similar way and then did put into canon camera, afterwards i was able to perfectly fsck & mount it

what's directory size anyway? i'm not aware of exfat having limits here. but canon might put less files into single directory

or not, as i checked

both cards are also aligned off of start of device. when i got cards, i zeroed them out once, then put back partitions aligned how it were

what to think of all this, i don't know, from that closed bug i'm also unaware but this is still biting asses of users with no workaround or fix? i also can't wrap my head around possible fix and would it break the camera interpretation of "right" fs?

does that device implement exfat in wrong way or it just does something that spec allows, just fuse exfat doesn't?
