Hi @Mo-way ! Yes, the point is that I wanted to configure Dante devices from linux, ran into trouble while using the original project and decided to fix the issues I had.

However, since I saw no significant changes in the original repo, I decided to keep a separate version. The result was a refactoring of the code so it would be simpler to grasp and easier to add features onto (without asking any questions in between and submitting separate PRs).

Of course, I'm completely open to pushing the changes back or creating an organization so that all efforts endure.

How to add more commands:


Setup Wireshark & capture on the interface the Dante devices are in. Use a Windows VM if on Linux.


Set the following Wireshark filter to focus on the commands that matter:

udp.dstport != 4321 && udp.dstport != 319 && udp.dstport != 320 && (ip.dst == 192.168.10.30 || ip.src == 192.168.10.30)


Manually check every command.

IMO this project should be the base to 'patching' scripts (imagine an AV-receiver interface of Dante devices in your home!) or a terminal-UI a-la-alsamixer to connect devices together. From then, a web-based UI would be the next step (so that you could easily connect remotely if you have a remote server on the dante network with ssh -L networkaudiocontrollerport:localhost:localport (see related example x-air-docker) .

While I'm more busy than expected, I'll be hopefully connecting the DJ booth to the sound system in my office through the network the next few months, so there will be a test-bench I can use to quickly run some tests and develop on the few hours of time I have left for entertainment-coding.

I think Chris doesn't really watch GitHub and I believe said somewhere they prefer not to maintain the project.

Did you try to E-Mail Chris with your ideas? I'd be curious for the reply to your ideas.
