Camera Homing Problem

Sometimes, when the camera operates continuously, it loses its position coordinates. As a workaround, I usually reboot it — but rebooting takes a significant amount of time, and during that period, the camera obviously stops streaming. Instead of rebooting, is there a way to force the camera to perform a homing operation during normal operation?

The only operation that restores the position coordinates is unload/reload of the kernel module.

But I never tried to do it while the cam is working.
