ls /home/$partner returns same as empty ls

No such file: /home/lee/README.md

root:rootpc ~ $ cat /home/lee/README.md
No such file: /home/lee/README.md

suggest that a partner's README should maybe be the same as `whois $partner`. it's a dirty hack around how `ls` isn't actually responsive to its arguments.
