Ability to control realtek-PoE switch interfaces

My current setup uses a PoE switch to power the rest of my home network, being 8 APs in total. It would be nice to control the PoE from OpenSOHO in the event I add more APs in the future to avoid having to configure the ports via ssh.

That's interesting. I currently don't have OpenWRT powered PoE switches at home. But it's been on my wishlist, so it could appear someday.
What devices are you using (both switch and APs?) Thansk!

The APs I use specifically are 8xAP3825i's, the switch is an EnGenius EWS2910P, and I'm running OpenSOHO off a Google Wifi puck as the main controller for the network.

I can provide an example working configuration for realtek-poe devices, since they are managed via /etc/config/poe using uci and the accompanying por service.

Considering how OpenSOHO runs off OpenWISP, I don't know if this is possible, but if you could, it would be great to also have statistics tracking of the PoE interfaces, as they expose their status like current power delivery via ubus

I bought a EnGenius EWS2910P-FIT of Amazon. And I want to flash OpenWRT, but currently the process fails.
The bottom sticker of the device says V1 and so does the web UI. I'm on software version v2.0.02-2.03.006.
I'm trying to flash a .bix file as you mentioned in openwrt/openwrt#19424
But after the file upload via HTTP, it always fails with "Firmware file format error". (similar as with OpenWRT)

A few things I'm concerned about: you mentioned that you had to upgrade incrementally? Can you elaborate on that, I would have suspected "downgrade"?
I hope the "-FIT" postfix doesn't mean totally incompatible version.

OK, I've opened the thing up, the PCB says it is a v3, but it is probably a v1 FIT. Unfortunately the thing locked it seems.

I tried flashing OpenWrt but it kept failing, ultimately what helped was flashing the latest version, however trying to flash directly to the latest one did not work, so I had to do incremental upgrades until the latest version, after which the OpenWrt flash worked.

Thanks! In the end that didn't work for me, so I figured out how to get it running (although there is still an issue remaining)
