The term "Self-Consciousness" was translated as "Selbstbewusstsein", which actually means self-confidence — a positive trait.
A more accurate translation in this context would be "Unsicherheit" or perhaps "Verunsicherung", since "Self-Consciousness" here refers to feeling uneasy or insecure in social situations.
