how to calculate cost while shipping products having different dimensions and weight #14

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I have different products and their dimensions and weight varies
2. If one of my customer purchased many items with different dimensions and
weight. Then which shipping method i have to use package or freight?
3. Do i need calculate the shipping individually for each item and then sum it
for total cost?
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Plz provide a single function in which i can pass dimemsions and wieght
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using php5 on linux
