It's probably not needed since these are not phenology models and definitely slows things down.

The deepcopy stuff was implemented in pyPhenology. For the phenology models there was definitely some manipulation of the predictor data that necessitated the use of deepcopy here.

eg. the thermaltime model changes the temperature array directly to get at degree days
